it's taken a while, but philly is starting to show signs of improvement. i assume funding has taken a while, but the city looks like its' gotten a face lift. the entire penn campus has spread out and streets on the edge that were once dingy now looks quaint and habitable. new pockets of development have finally come into fruition, why people would want to live above an atrium of retail shops and restaurants is a sign that i've aged, but the upcoming energy of youth that is waiting to inject this city seems to want to dive right in. as we started our thursday night in ritten square at tria...then moved over to northern liberty.
hoa was in town. a former cheerleader in college and then for the boston celtics she's transitioned her gymnast physique into her new found love. brazilian jiu jit su. she looks like hoan. she speaks like hoan, but a little faster paced. and she exudes a bit more intensity and energy in her conversations on life. and i quote "listen listen....i went to that new gym around the corner...and the instructor kept trying to pair me up with this other girl in the gym. she was supposedly really good so the instructor kept looking over and telling her to take it easy...to take it easy on me...and of course...I CHOKED HER OUT" ...she may have been telling that story to hoan, but i might as well have been the one being choked out cuz i slowly edged my seat further away....
but it's refreshing to hear someone passionate about something like that. im too vain to be into something ironically i might really excel in due to hs background and physique and body type. she's gotten her ears drained before...which im deathly afraid of. and she's competed at an adult level....and when she hears of anyone knowing anything about the sport...she gets amped up ready to rage....sprawls, armbars, locks. throws, chokes. submissions etc... can we talk about eggs and sausages instead???
