we've been at the peak of the superhero genre....especially since the quality of CGI has caught up to movie realism...but is it the market over flooded with freakish heroes? mutant genes? i just finished watching heroes season 1. saw hulk and ironman recently, looking to see hancock and now when i see the prawns in my noodle soup, im thinking "are these mutant shrimp?" they're HUGE!

ever since i got sick 2 weeks ago, i haven't felt fully recovered to delve back into my normal lifestyle of drink eat drink eat drink eat and no sleep lifestyle. working out has been painful as my lungs can't handle any sort of cardio alcohol burning workout....hence i've only been able to continue the gluttony since....

isetan has been having a hokkaido fair, and with a pyramid of salmon roe staring us in the face, we opted for 16 dollars worth...a great snack to walk and eat....walk and eat.

Indonesia, is blanketed in pollution, accosted with poverty, beleaguered by corruption, consistently flooded, attacked by natural disasters of earthquakes and tsunamis and attacked by terrorist bombs yet still remains overly populated and growing. Its capital city of Jakarta @ 13M is a surging developing dusty city and despite any of these 50% daily probable disasters, domestic demand continues to drive the economy is a positive direction.

the "home sweet home" psyche is quite an interesting topic to delve into, especially when discussing market demographic for business opportunities in indonesia. If you had your home flooded in 2m of water 2x a year wouldn't you move? If the building 2 streets down was bombed even once in ur lifetime, wouldn't you move? they don't. Call it resilient or call it immune. It's their home. And as the 4th most populated country's middle class grows, even those sent away to study abroad in (america, europe, australia), are eager to come back to this city of chaos hoping to capitalize on it's freakish development

As of last wednesday....i am HIV neg.

S'pore government made me get a chest Xray and an HIV test in order to get my employment pass.
Girls don't need to take this test for EP.

ridiculous.

i karaoke a lot....and i hear a lot of songs for the first time from my friends singing it. and i'll say "that's a good song who sings it?"...
so then i head home and DL the song, only to hear the song sung with the preferred asian lackluster soft voice lacking personality and feeling...and the karaoke version is the same as the album arrangement which totally doesn't do the melody justice!

one of those songs....

amazing how singapores are soo immersed in the singlish..
talk shows....daily shows....sitcoms...

don't any how say things....

"i don't care what other people think of me...."

the above statement, a common immature statement by adolescents, whether fueled by spontaneous fury or not, is obviously an ill thought out remark which it's selfish actions actually cause a domino effect of indirect consequences...and by this i mean in the most cliched philosophical view that we as people, living breathing and on this earth, are all connected, all linked and all dependent on each other for happiness and sustenance. it's too easy to get lost in the whirl of luxury where life is defined by one's immediate radius of comfort. this short sighted perspective, if groomed from youth and not corrected by education and experience becomes permanent blinders throughout life. proper education and historical knowledge cures some, but experience leverages out unavoidable biased cultural teaching.

"economies of scale needs to be applied to all perspectives to fully assess ones action and it's exponentiated re-action"

with my american background, the greatest education in my move to the east, was breaking the shackles of american arrogance. american naivete. the swagger of the stars and stripes isn't ridiculous (due to it's superpower status) but definitely unjustifiably long lasting...which for the first time in 200 years, is realizing it's prodigal demise. an american takes for granted a strong dollar, a diplomatic passport, social security, clean air, fresh water, disease free food, and homeland security. and while i still have spoiled US passport tendencies (besides my bourgeois upbringing), my eyes are now more attune @ seeing the yin-yang-push-pull relationship of america's market-driving bully tactics and the 'wait to see what the US does" rest of the world reaction....

a post from may 14th, 2008

this is why people are starving in the world...

the
world is NOT running out of natural resources.  the world has only
tapped into ~18% of oil reserves!!....the most obvious sign of this, is
the fact that you don't see oil majors scrambling to support biodiesel,
scrambling for an exit strategy to cover their own arse....panicking to
find an alternative energy.  whereas, they just take an even bigger
stronghold by maintaining and not increasing opec production alongside
increased demand thanks largely in part to china...

even through
my selfish hedonistic greed, i am, theoretically very green, very
pro-earth.  i do support the rain forest (since elementary school bake
sales), fight global warming and advocate recycling.  i feel the drive
for alternate energy is awesome and cool!  however, all this government
subsidy for biofuels which in turn are driving food prices up the
wazzooo and creating food shortages for poorer nations is completely
unacceptable.  PEOPLE ARE STARVING and HERE WE ARE USING IT FOR FUEL.
UGH.

there's an article on mark cuban for wired magazine last
year discussing his HUGE loss in biofuels..."oh im just doing it for
fun now".

Pumped Up
Your Own Personal Ethanol Station

UrbanDaddy - Micro FuelerOnce you
attain a certain stature in life, there are two things that no longer make
sense—cheap liquor and expensive gas stations.

So there's obvious appeal to the idea that you could turn cheap liquor into cheap gas in the time it takes you
to down an ice-cold martini (made with the good stuff). Say hello to your new
personal gas pump, the EFuel100
MicroFueler
.

Rather
than waiting in line on a smoggy street corner for the privilege of being
gouged mercilessly, roll right up to the EFuel100 residing in your driveway (or
garage, or basically anywhere with a power outlet and a water hookup) to fill any
gas-burning auto with your homemade batch of ethanol. Just pour in the mix of sugar
feedstock and yeast—or the residual gin from your Bootlegger's Ball '05
gathering—and after a few days, fill 'er up. The MicroFueler makes 35 gallons a
week, each gallon costs you about $1, and your car will actually enjoy a little
more power (which is why IndyCar racers use ethanol).

Sure, you
can brag about the purported environmental benefits of your newfound gasoline
independence, but there's also a certain satisfaction in using that gas money
you saved somewhere else.

Like the bar.

EFuel100 MicroFueler, $9,995, now available for
pre-order online

im a pretty stark liberal (that is until i reach a different tax bracket tier, admit-tingly), but when liberal views are so shallow that it's idealistic goals of humanitarian grandeur are clouded inhumane acts, i'm not down. Obama Camp Closely Linked With Ethanol. when i read this article, it had me fuming.  it's not that im in the oil industry that makes me more knowledgeable, more emotional, more intuitive on this issue, in fact i see the american oil bully from the outside in, fiscally factoring in commodity prices, inflation rates, currency depreciation, commodity increases and comparing it to the relatively LOW oil prices in america, the biofuel subsidies, the environmentally friendly green-marketing ploy and it's selfish diplomatic policy that steers the world for it's own aristocrat gain.

from the times article....

Many economists, consumer advocates, environmental experts and tax groups have been critical of corn ethanol programs as a boondoggle that benefits agribusiness conglomerates more than small farmers. Those complaints have intensified recently as corn prices have risen sharply in tandem with oil prices and corn normally used for food stock has been diverted to ethanol production.

...Corn ethanol generates less than two units of energy for every unit of energy used to produce it, while the energy ratio for sugar cane is more than 8 to 1. With lower production costs and cheaper land prices in the tropical countries where it is grown, sugar cane is a more efficient source.

lowering the cost of fuels is not an option when its making people starve! when third world countries that depend on it's agricultural economy to feed it's people now converts huge percentages of food into biofuel to offset american fuel prices (which is already cheapest in the world)...which effectively makes the local harvest too expensive for people to purchase.....

it's a disturbing thought as a public blogger to realize the innate similarities to carrie bradshaw as an open book of tyrannical vanity for the public to read. however, rather than a s.a.t.c. correlation, i prefer to be coined "wordsmith"....hahaa...a wordy generic surname (thanks ami). and today's realm of wordy self inflection is brought upon by this picture....

it's always interesting when things pan out, work out, to look back and see the sequence of events from a bigger perspective.  of all the people i'm close to and of all the people's pictures i've posted on this blog, i've probably known alexia the longest.  i was in 9th grade and already finding excuses to play hookey from SAT prep to hang out with the racoon eyed, ripped ab revealing beater, baggy jeaned bad ass.  alice, as she was known back then, was the coolest girl i knew...while she made smoking marlboro red's look sensually euphoric i was coughing trying to learn to inhale.  while she swished the butterfly knife around, i was hopelessly scrounging around looking for the zippo i had secretly bought to show off to her.  while my parted bangs, jnco, manhattan portage and pager ensemble may have stereotypically matched her look, my puberty years were at a jaw dropping standstill for this one.  and just like that, for the same reason that bad asses get sent away to study, she was sent right back.  14 years later, with 1 appearance in btwn, i'm back as a fixture, drinking beers together, eating kalbi together and watching porn together.  her mom remembers me, her mom remembers my mom.  her sister remembers my sister.  her brother remembers my dad.  it's funny how things turn out.

deynica and her monster range rover.....barely over the steering wheel!

the handicap of being raised in coastal metropolis' is that in the drive to survive financially and further succeed financially , one tends to rule out all the other paths of life that life has to offer (that's w/o factoring in generic racial stereotypes). for instance, when greeted by old high school friends who have ventured the paths of horticulturalists, i sit and scratch my head and wonder "when in life did the option of horticulture ever appear and when did it ever become a viable option".

moving forward.....having fiscally self sustainable vocations is one thing, but to somehow venture down the path of pro-bono work seriously bewilders me into admiration. a law degree and a beat up japanese automobile, all put towards the better good of battered korean women. laides n gentlemen, woman of the month, miss grace kyu lee.

what comes before part b?

PARRTTTTAAAYYy!!!!!

"don't listen to elders, and you'll suffer"

im trying to get up to date with blog vs pictures...and after looking at all the pictures that pretty much look like the same night over and over, it's really no wonder why my battered body has decided to take a break from the everyday toils i put it through. the drinking, the partying, the lack of sleeping, the flying, the meetings, the eating....i've probably given my body one long hard year run of all of this with one final month long stretch to hammer it home where it's taken a week for the body to get sick and recover, then relapse on the 3rd day of recovery. i'm still sniffling, i'm still coughing up phlegm, im still fatigued and i'm still out of commission. not good.

there's "love in the club" and then there's "making out in the studio" an idea that i brilliantly came up with just now while the weekend buzz with louisa lee is being pre-recorded this saturday night. i'll fill you guys in later if my genius plans are put into effect....

as this blog so poignantly portrays, there is absolutely zero hiding of my narcissistic nature alongside severe yearning for some kind of faint stardom....and as my stars (and opportunity cost) don't seem soo aligned for me to shed light on this yearning, i have somehow found quick-fix solutions to quench short term cravings for attention.

ms lee just handed the mic over to me for a few quick blitzes on icrt 100.7's weekend buzz and let's just say after 30 seconds of novice jitters...i quickly came to my senses, gripped the humor and sarcasm that's been brewing in me since the arrival of alcohol in my life and just let my long winded mouth harmonize with my manly bass vocals to blanket unprepared listeners with the nonsense that tis i. one word "empowering"

i sound good. and i know it. =) (does self-pitying arrogance voice through via text?)

i am jealous of your job. full stop.
