i haven't let a caucasian cut my hair since middle school at the lemon tree.  and after this trip to l'appartement and 100 dollars later....i will continue to boycott caucasians cutting my hair...
l'appartement was fancy...but not as fancy and pampering as the salons in asia....it sounded posh to go to fifth ave on a friday night....open a bottle of sake...and get your hair done....but when the haircut was sub par and the lady says "sometimes i impress myself...." after she's done....u know you're definitely not coming back....

the best part about making nem nuong at home...is that you get to say nem nuong as many times as possible in a day.  nem nuong is just the pork pate....u can grill it and eat it with rice...or u wrap it in the summer roll..... and next time..."u should mix in bacon because it makes it very tasty" - hoans mom.
