married with kids means a lot of responsibility.  and responsibility means sleeping early and weekends are spent at home.  and weekends at home generally involve a whole lot of sobriety.  and whenever the dad gets a chance he's looking for a reason to step outside for a smoke, or find a partner willing to come over and have a drink.  because the fatigue and the lack of consistent drinking has made getting drunk that much easier.  so when i get a call..."chin come on over..."  and then a follow up text 30 minutes later "when are you coming?"  and then a call an hour later "are you coming?"....it makes me feel a bit obligated to oblige even though its not always going to be a great night for me.

so i went over.  we had kiddie talk with 3 other couples either with kids or about to have a kid...or onto their second kid.  and almost as immediately as i stepped in, we stepped outside so we could talk about the new swing set installed in the backyard along with a smoke.  and after some gossip and dessert...couples started to plan to go home.  at 8pm.  so lax quickly turned to me..."lets make a beer run"...we managed to convince one couple to stay longer....they reluctantly stayed for a round of quarters which made lax and i finish a 12 pack in 45 minutes.  why lax would buy natty light beats me...

and so by 10pm i wasn't nearly drunk enough...but drunk enough not to drive.  and what could i do other than pass out on the couch till 1am before driving home.  conflicts of interest...

the beauty of this video is that it took me one take.  meanwhile dan stood over there retaking it over and over....

for a plethora of reasons, my schedules always been a bit more flexible than most.  and there seems to be pockets of times when im available for someone who's got time to enter the realm of my run & gun offense.  whether it being traveling, staying home, playing guitar, drinking etc...it's just my lifestyle.  come join.  it's fun.  and this summer started with a 4 day stint with the other 미남 in macao and hongkong.  that felt like 2 weeks.  then it followed with a few weeks in nyc with the 미남 in nyc.  and the summer finished with multiple trips out to long island where 2 미남's do what 미남's do best.  guitar and drinking and talking about feelings.  hahaha.  멍멍!

i don't know why, but for some reason certain groups of friends have become not as physically prevalent in my life as they used to be.  this is not a statement that accuses anyone of not being a better friend, nor does it accuse myself of neglect but rather it's a statement of how close people can be without being close...or how far people can be without being far apart.  by now it's a cliched ever shrinking world and technological aids.  regardless...i have friends that are awesome no matter how often i see them.  i have friends that are going to be close and closer no matter what happens.  no explanations...just when you actually see them, it only takes moments to catch up and it only takes seconds for waves of nostalgia to hit  and when i sit here and blog about it, the emo-ness weighs even more.

i have chinese girlfriends.  and chinese girlfriends come to my house.  amanda by train.  ivy by car.  i cooked. we ate.  we drank.  and we took a trip out to the hamptons.  if there's no traffic, if there's a good playlist.  the best part of the trip is the car ride.  with a stop for cigarettes we convinced ivy for the car ride.  hit up a house of sleeping people only to make it back to my house to drink more before drinking even more the next day.

"i want to run" - amanda
"i want to drink" - me

so i filled up my solo cup with whiskey and ran with her.  hahaaha.  then we opened two bottles of champagne by the pool.

i made crispy roast pork.  the first time i did it without a tutorial and it just ended up EHHH.  this time, i followed the recipe.  and it turned out quite well.  a day in advance to salt and drain the moisture out.  and then a not so tedious basting baking process that works pretty well.  the homemade version renders more fat, hence a more higher propensity to burn but still good.  but it begs the question, why go through all the work when you can just buy it.
