everyone in the world cares about vanity. asian languages just have better words for it cuz it's more rooted with underlying personality, etiquette, education, upbringing, where you're from, who your parents are, who your grandparents are...etc. and so koreans like to talk about someones 인상. their overall impression. in chinese it's 印象。 though i think the more accurate parallel is 氣質。 someone looks at your impression and then feels out your 氣質。。。your overall disposition and qualities of your personality, etiquette, posture, education, upbringing, where you're from, who your parents are, who your grandparents are etc...
i think i look better thinner. and anyone young and more vain will say the same. but anyone who is older, a parent, more successful, business oriented, during my interviews, rich family friends will all say that my 인상 is better now, chubbier, fuller faced.
unfortunately...i've graduated from pajun...to bawee....to subak face.
