Grisly U.S. Deaths in Iraq

Enraged Mob in Falluja Kills 4 American Contractors

In a modulation of their assessments in recent days, the generals had begun to say that there may be a merging of diehard loyalists to Mr. Hussein and Islamic militants, with the two groups at least loosely coordinating their attacks.

"I think [one magazine gave us] an award for Most Faceless Band of 2002," singer Doug Robb confessed. "And what's funny is ... I think they were trying to insult us, but it was really a compliment. Right beneath [our picture], the caption read something like, 'That's right, boys. No one would recognize you walking down the street. Sorry, you are only going to have to be recognized for your music.' Well isn't that the whole point?"

FRIDAY...

IM GOING OUT TONIGHT!...FINALLY....

yahooo!

you ever just sit there in amazement at how brilliant humans are on this planet?...the ideologies/philosophies/inventions/creativity that explodes at every moment is absolutely stunning...of course it is these same wonders that causes the reactionary downfalls....

i sit at work spending hours reading the paper....then going online do to further historical research to understand a more thorough grasp of the subject...and the headlines of the times today...

1. Israeli Soldiers Thwart a Boy's Suicide Bombing Attempt

a crazy crazy occurrence in itself...but there must be an acknoledgment of the intelligence of those pious terrorists....it is not only their determination that must not be underestimated but also their sheer ingenuity...which poses a traumatic scare....

2. Atheist Presents Case for Taking God From Pledge

the doctor presenting his case...a person of the books....knowledgeable/smart/cohesive and most importantly generically smart enough to work within his constitutional boundaries to fight for his goals...for him to have pushed his case up through the ranks of the court system...his pro-atheist arguments must be astoundingly eloquent and well thought out...the article doesn't go in depth but i assume that his stance is quite intriguing.

in other news...

what is the big deal with american idol....fox has the crappiest shows...yet this show remains to keep it as a close number 2 in the ratings...this show sucks...i've been forced to watch it a few times..and everytime it just gets worse...what makes it worse is that its always friggin on...every friggin day of the week..BLAH

On a typical week, "American Idol'' accounts for 10 percent of Fox's 15 hours of prime-time programming. Often, Fox broadcasts special editions of "Idol,'' like last week when three and a half hours were broadcast, and then the total rises well past 20 percent. When "Idol'' finishes this season in May, Fox will have televised at least 41 hours since starting again in January, about the same number of hours that hit hourlong series are broadcast during an entire season. - NYT.

**never caught onto google...i yahoo...but i'm already waiting on line when it goes public PROGOOGS**

for all you POKER FREAKS OUT THERE (by art chung):

Like Pilates and metrosexuals, poker's current popularity is a direct result of overwhelming media attention. If it's not the umpteenth showing of Celebrity Poker Showdown on Bravo, it's the giant displays of poker manuals at Barnes & Noble and the countless articles by journalists chronicling their failed attempts at playing poker. And no wonder. Poker has become the participatory activity du jour of journalists because it's a sport that even pencil jockeys can play. With all due respect to George Plimpton, I'd rather not put on shoulder pads to see "what it's like" to be tackled by a 300-pound linebacker. But I'm certainly willing to sit at a table and summon up my inner alpha dog over paper cards and clay chips.

Poker also requires a certain level of self-analysis, a quality that writers have in spades. In the recent poker anthology Read 'Em and Weep, David Mamet offers this thought: "Poker reveals to the frank observer something else of importt will teach him about his own nature. Many bad players do not improve because they cannot bear self-knowledge. The bad player will not deign to determine what he thinks by watching what he does." It's not enough to be able to guess what cards your opponent is holding; you need to know what he thinks you're holding.

Is there a more boring device on the planet than the possession arrow? Couldn't it have a few more wrinkles to make things more interesting? What about on the fifth possession arrow, the captain of the team gets $500 in illegal booster money? Or his team has to play 4-on-5 for 30 seconds? Or their male cheerleaders have to immediately head back to the locker room -- which should probably happen, anyway? They should try this out in the NIT.

black ambition tour was HILARIOUS....although i think he should have renamed his tour to "married life sucks"...

the beauty of comedians and writers is that they do nothing other than state the obvious and mundane into an eloquent string of words..(perspective)..chris rock spent the last half of his show...describing the married "dead man"...and the tyrannies of the modern day wife....sitting next to my own significant other...i found myself quite unsure as to when to and not to laugh....oh jeez...good times nontheless...

im not a poem person...but i like neruda...

Enigmas

by Pablo Neruda

You've asked me what the lobster is weaving there with
his golden feet?
I reply, the ocean knows this.
You say, what is the ascidia waiting for in its transparent
bell? What is it waiting for?
I tell you it is waiting for time, like you.
You ask me whom the Macrocystis alga hugs in its arms?
Study, study it, at a certain hour, in a certain sea I know.
You question me about the wicked tusk of the narwhal,
and I reply by describing
how the sea unicorn with the harpoon in it dies.
You enquire about the kingfisher's feathers,
which tremble in the pure springs of the southern tides?
Or you've found in the cards a new question touching on
the crystal architecture
of the sea anemone, and you'll deal that to me now?
You want to understand the electric nature of the ocean
spines?
The armored stalactite that breaks as it walks?
The hook of the angler fish, the music stretched out
in the deep places like a thread in the water?

I want to tell you the ocean knows this, that life in its
jewel boxes
is endless as the sand, impossible to count, pure,
and among the blood-colored grapes time has made the
petal
hard and shiny, made the jellyfish full of light
and untied its knot, letting its musical threads fall
from a horn of plenty made of infinite mother-of-pearl.

I am nothing but the empty net which has gone on ahead
of human eyes, dead in those darknesses,
of fingers accustomed to the triangle, longitudes
on the timid globe of an orange.

I walked around as you do, investigating
the endless star,
and in my net, during the night, I woke up naked,
the only thing caught, a fish trapped inside the wind.

Today is the saddest moment ever. Scottie, I heard on

sportscenter, is retiring.

Best player ever. I do have to thank alex for helping

me to see him live. it was the only time i've ever

seen him play live and it was probably the closest

i'll ever get to being on an nba court. you're

awesome.

scottie was the most complete player, ever, dominating

both offensively and defensively. he never needed to

force shots because he always worked in the FLOW of

the game. Defensively, he is most definitely the best

TEAM defensive player of all time. One on one, he was

probably less capable of defending the great scorers

but then again, no one could stop them so it's all

good.

If basketball is a team game, he is its greatest

testament.

I love you, Scottie.

i think i have repercussions of a concussion from this weekend...BLEGH.

"The fear I have is that the world is leveraged on low-interest borrowing," said Allen Sinai, chief executive of Decision Economics, an economic forecasting firm. "It's like a drug, and you get hooked on it."

definitely have to agree here...there is just no where for the american economy to move...esp with no jobs being created anywhere~...everyone is going overseas...the only thing keeping everything in place and moving forward is low interest rates....tons of high financing.....the US has to start protecting its dollar...somehow someway...better for the long run...instead of this false bullish peak that we've reached as of late....(making me f'in lose money duH!)

(topic spurnned after thinking about this mornings events in spains train bombing)

the idea of choice:

in a country based on the freedom tochoose and the right of independence...it is aweful how much of this countries youth lies in the wallows of uncertainty...in one aspect...this can be assessed to the limitless amount of options that yield one's final choice of destination....(also not to disregard the option of doing NOTHING which favors the innate being)

is this also the reason for an influx of people yearning for a passion in anything??

and to that matter...can one be envious of those people in militant groups who live so emphatically by their purpose that they are willing to sacrifice themselves in order to stand for their beliefs...their ignorance is the motivation to acheive their goals???  following the specific non-hostile strand of perspective that i am writing about...is it this fury in which to be envious of...??

you ever get those days where you just dwell on things?...im sure everyone does...those moments in your personal time where you just dwell or have time to just think/wander/free associate from one point to another aimlessly...but how often do those moments associate rapidly into regretful and old mistakes territory??...to sit/daydream and constantly go from one bad moment to another reliving each over and over....ridiculous...f'in LIRR.

Posted 3/4/2004 at 5:33 PM by rosaleen - delete - block user

a tangent post stirred by the last 2 commenters

women are constantly in a state of denial over 2 things.

1. men

2. sex

"mi55mango" -i want a guy that i can make my bitch! heh just kidding

oh man..she's a freak in the sac...just not willing to admit it...

oh man..the line just kidding is soo annoying...women really think they could say anything and qualify it by saying "just kidding"

which leads to commenter number 2

"rosaleen" - her few favorite lines "i hate boys...just kidding..." "boys are annoying ...just kidding"....oh man~

the female revolution has posed a huge clash for a woman to fully grasp her independence because they still yearn to hold the stereotypical values of the past...a "just kidding" qualification seems a representation for her to hold onto some sort of purity...but yet the spontaneous urge to bash men is one of the products of the surge of female independence.

so moving onto rosaleen's post

"stupid emails written by boys" - jeezus....

how come women can never appreciate dumb pinata bicycle humor...pendulum jokes.......jokes that have been told a million quadrillion times...instead...she attacks....

"don't you ever get sick of making the same jokes?...does that stuff get stupid?" *rolling eyes*

NO...NEVER GET SICK OF THE SAME JOKE...in fact...i think they get funnier over time....check this one out : reference vixstar

on a tangent to women and basketball...

im going to see aida tonight...

something annie's been dying to see with me...after which will be her 3rd viewing..

anyhoo...

the story is about a nubian princess..

the first thing i thought of was the wnba...

i just pictured lisa leslie and toni braxton (this time we see deborah cox - i have no clue who she is) running around onstage..(could be that i see all the posters on the LIRR right next to posters of the wnba...subliminal marketing...what can you do.)

i somehow hoped to root them on with my styrofoam finger on one hand and beer in the other...

im actually hoping that they'll have chicken fingers and knishes' at halftime oops intermission

otherwise i'll just settle for some twix and a couple of jack and cokes...

it'll be a doozy.

in a scottie pippen related note...i used to think

that women who wore basketball gear would look hot as

shit. what i've now realized is that they just look

like ugly ass chicks in basketball gear. put on some

makeup and wear a dress you stupid ho. if you're

going to play ball, do it in lingerie, like you were
