with the amount of stress work has been giving me, i really did not want my parents to come visit me in korea.  not to mention my sister and my mom are the kind of tourists that need to be handheld through everything.  they have completely zero regard for the person hosting as they think they need to be taken care of at every turn.  leave early to pick them up at the airport.  they wont' take a cab ride home as it is my duty to drop them off even if it is out of the way.  i obviously should and have to pay for everything.   and even if i'm not shopping i need to accompany them.  it's not that they take it for granted, it's that they think its my duty.  and it's not that they empathize with what the host is doing, it's that they are just consumed in being taken care of.  it's a completely unorthodox style of tour guide foreigner stress that i had to deal with.  combine that with the fact that i too am a foreigner.

on thursday, we had dinner.  on friday i sent them on a tour.  chinese people are not impressed by korean culture.  it's basically chinese.  but smaller.  and so they got the cultural part of the country out of the way.  what chinese people come to korea for is SHOPPING.  for HALLYU.  FOR FACE PRODUCTS.  FOR DONG DAE MUN...chinese people aren't that impressed by the food.  and for my sis and my mom, they didn't want to eat at all.  and so on saturday.  we ate.  went to do hair and nails.  then went shopping for 8 hours.  had dinner in the food court.  shopped some more.  and ate some 빙수.  and shopped some more.

on sunday.  we had lunch.  went shopping.  ALL DAY.  they were not impressed with the street food.  so we went back to 논현 for dinner.  they didn't want anything spicy.  didn't want anything heavy.  and just wanted veges.  we ended up going to 고기집 anyways.  ordered extra veges.  talked loudly in chinese.  took a slight rest before haejung took us all to go midnight outlet shopping till 3am.  i sat in the car and slept.  complete disregard that i had to work the next day.

it's not that im not willing to do any of the things asked me.  but please with some sense.  let me drop you off at the shopping place and have me pick u up 5 hours later.  why have me sit there in misery waiting for you?  since when does that make any sense or mutual understanding?

JT threw a house party friday night.  i came home after a full day of work and dinner with my parents then a quick 회식 with colleagues to a house full of people.  i changed and put on my house party clothes.  and then headed to 밤사.

so after 2 weeks of trying to figure out what to do with my life.  i have a meeting with sedong intertank.  a mr DSCHANG - i think the meeting went well.  in fact, they always go well.  they brought in the big boss and was very impressed with my demeanor and chinese ability.  and when the conversation shifts not about work, but about my personal life its' usually why don't i have a gf.  or why am i not married.  and the feedback that i received afterwards from an ex colleague of mine is that me not being married shows instability...

hmmm...

in other news, the korean government is allowing more private companies to supply fuels to domestic korea.  creating more competition for the big conglomerates. korea's expected demand for crude and fuels is expected to be huge in the upcoming 5-10 years.  hence the move.  leave petrochemicals and go upstream.  fuels. blending. or...COAL

i know how to throw bbq's.  but i don't know how to throw korean bbq's.  koreans are pretty particular about how they want things done or what they want done or this and that.  that and this.  as i tried to cater to them.  i also had a very tough time for my first time actually shopping in a supermarket.  this was my list.  i overbought.  and they didn't eat most of it.  so i know better now.  buy more alcohol.  buy less food.  irony is, in korea.  soju is cheaper than food.

bbq.  nrb. budaejigeh with mira.

oh kat.  typical gyopo girl.  loud.  outta control.  yelling at me.  speaking korean with an accent.  hitting me.  and having the locals stare at us.  hilarious.

it's a great place to hang out and do nothing for a long time.  it's a great place to detox.  there's food. there's tv.  there's video games.  it's cheap.  its good for your body.  i don't know why i don't go more often.  once you feel recovered.  you want to eat more.  and once you eat.  and feel back to par.  why go home so early at that point?  밤사....again.

i just met those guys on tuesday.  and on saturday morning we were off to busan.  great trip.  great friends.  great time.

7 hour drive due to traffic.  checked into hotel.  walked around.  sushi.  busan soju.  viking.  jogaegui. club hive.  pojangmacha.  beach.  번데기.  돼지국밥.
