i shelved it.  sucks.  why?  whiny. unfocused.  circles around the same subjects.  talking about food does get boring.  why else would his show no reservations all of a sudden take a turn for the more somber geo political issues where food is just a cultural unifier of hope and communion.  narratives need to develop depth and he makes a valiant effort to be that contemporary candid first person narrative.  unfortunately, by trade, he's not that great of a writer.  he's long winded and sometimes gets lost in his own efforts to keep it real and sarcastic.  that's exactly why his first book was a hit because he was the pioneer of this style of writing in the culinary world.  however, he spoke about it as an autobiography, a credible expert and self experienced memoir of becoming a chef.  which is why we were all legitimately kept attune to his whine.  now, he focuses on human nature and life, and that kind of writing is better left to experts that have a knack for stating the obvious till it hurts.
