it's great that my job lets me see the world. even though it's not as "fun" as my pictures may portray, global exposure is not overrated. but the thing about work travel is not so much the itinerary as it's opportune time to be when you're personal life is the most hectic. in 2 days, it will mark my 4 week anniversary of being back in nyc. it feels great. the weather is amazing, my friends and family are here, and even though i'm continually talking about the possibility of going away...i know better. stay in new york. go home to long island. enjoy the weather, jump in the pool. dog sit for friends and eat bbq in the backyard. my legs hurt from bbqing too much. my underarms a little ashy from being sunburnt. my pants are a little tight from 10 rounds of meat and 1 round of seafood boil. i have a cut on my hand from scrubbing the carpet from doggy accident...and i have a big smile on my face from a great weekend.
the menu is getting streamlined. flushing. shopping. home. marinating. bones into the pot for soup. shellfish get thrown into a bowl of water. meat marinated in plastic bags. beef ribs with kalbi sauce. pork ribs with dry rub. chicken and black bean sauce. sam gyupsal with garlic salt rub. squid cleaned and marinated with shrimp. sweet soy chili and lime. fish get white wine cilantro scallions soy oil and ginger. the korean crack is made (thai chili/shallots/fried shallots/lime/sweet soy). first day starts with chinese lunch. burgers and dogs with kimchi and korean crack start the bbq then beers and meats ensue for dinner. an ice cream run, thanks ben, an alcohol run. a supermarket sweep. then night time fatback and vodka. TITO'S! 2nd day is that seafood boil of a beef bone base. noodles are key.
