bouley upstairs.

the food.  hmm.  i love how brilliant restauranteurs are by capturing the fame of celebrity chefs and their high end flagship popularity to then come out with the casual, no reservation little brother sidekick down the street (nobu next door, bouley upstairs, bar masa, etc).  offering smaller, cheaper yet still of quality fare that comes close to mimicking a feel of haute cuisine of "named chef" without that stuffy 3 hour meal of it's elder counterpart.  however, the truth of the matter is, no reservations and casual dining capture the true essence of the impromptu new yorker making friday nights @ the bar waiting for a table into a fiasco that 1. gets u wasted to even be able to properly enjoy the meal and 2. runs that bill up as if u were at the original.  c'est la vie.  the homemade tofu was good.  but weird at bouley with that sauce.  i think i might have liked that sauce on the side rather that having the tofu immersed in it.  what else did we order dammnit?  why can't i remember?  oh right!  ketel and soda?  oh right!  jameson shots?  oh right! that vodka, kahlua and espresso concoction....DUH!...congratulations on ur engagement janice!!!!
