mejican food

theres a very distinct difference between growing up on the east coast versus the west coast.  i, from new york, never crave mexican food.  guacomole?  ehh...burrito?  why??  what is lengua again?  and in the past ten years, every la trip never presented a "truck" that justified the traffic...tho this time, with more years under my belt, more food network, more understanding, and better grasp at ordering.  better friends to recommend good things within the vicinity, i am becoming a believer.  im still not a cali taco lover.  but it's good. i like torta's.  i like tripas.  i like lengua.  i like al pastor.  i find carne asada to be dry and over cooked.  im completely over the korean taco, cuz if i want korean meat, i want korean bbq.  and well...this happened....and it was smashingly awesome.
homemade tortilla's are key.  and thanks to rick bayless' fame on tv...im a huge torta fan.  the wet torta that is...
