even i have a hard time imagining myself walking down high school corridors with a red jansport, cradling my lacrosse stick and juking random peers walking by me. khaki's shirt and tie with a jersey on top. i remember coming home after school smelling like dirty grass and wet sock, showering and watching collegiate sports on tv all night. my saturdays were football games or wrestling tournaments and sundays were spent catching up on homework and studying for tests with the tv on. sunday tv was religiously nba inside stuff with ahmad rashad and hten the nba on nbc double header....where pat riley's knicks with xaviar mcdaniels, rolando blackman, kiki vandeweigh, anthony mason, john starks and ewing and oakley took on MJ and always lost. but it was always a good game. then u'd have the west coast battle of shawn kemp and gp versus sean elliot and david robinson. i'd always go shooot some hoops at half time pretending i was a face up post player like drob. its quite a vivid memory....and yet sooo distant cuz i feel so detached from those days since i barely even watch sportscenter these days.
the last time i saw the knicks live was when they went to the playoffs....could that be 2001? i was tempted to do the LJ arm motion when i walked in. and look for chris childs to bump chests. it feels good to root for the home team again. melo/stoudamire/bllups. its also odd to see a knicks team score points! im more used to the half court offense and stringent defense holding opponents to 90 points while only scoring 92. today's d'antoni knicks scored 78pts in the first half!
thanks dcho for the tickets. thanks frank for coming. and that's whats so awesome about nyc. its seamless to get tickets last minute and go to a game last minute. and then of course there's always ktown to wash it down.
