ya'll may think that im globetrekking and eating like a glutton...which i am...but beneath it all, my friends have pointed out my ridiculous vanity constant obsession with weight/food...fortunately for everyone, the past 2 months can be admittingly stated that i've kicked the insanity....unfortunately just as the carefree approach to bacon and beer launched for a short span, my immediate return to that part of the world, or that specific black hole-ed country of weight-fanaticism has re-ignited the 5 hour spells at the gym....liquor however will never cease to be ingested.....food on the other hand, alongside my convenient dislike for taiwanese food, is all of a sudden starting to be avoided....
so i told you i took thai cooking class....and when i got back to jakarta i made this....
THAI
tom yum gong
green curry beef....(all you do is buy all the ingredients and mash them up in pestil and mortar....although we just measured it....and told the maid to mash it up for us...made things MUCHO EASIER..hahaha)
INDO
pecil (peanut sauce drenched salad), rojak (fruit in sweet peanut sauce), eemie (thick sweet noodles)
gado gado
my absolute favorite...pisang goreng....fried bananas....the best store is in pluit...the batter makes it tastes like kfc.....and a high starch plantain...makes it soo savory.....
coconut crepes, in thailand and singapore they put coconut cream in the middle....
mie keriting - curly noodles with pork fat, roasted pork, wantons....
indocafe....where do you think starbucks gets its beans? SUMATERA!
full indonesian meal...how do the locals eat this everyday..and early in the day too...they just fill your table up with tons of plates...like korean panchan...and you pay for waht you eat...they take away the stuff you dont want.....and reserve it.....u get used the idea of that....just eat it....its good....
sweetsoy sauce glazed grilled fish, grilled eggplant, fried duck eggs with chilli sauce, fried fish
the 2nd indo meal....fried hardboiled eggs, fried taro...curry tendon...man..that was good....
different place for ee mie and satay...man..i dont have pictures of akang kuey teow...
this is interesting - avocado and coffee drink....tasty....just thick esp with an indo meal
