the westmount country club has no golf course.  it's another "made for weddings" venue located past ghetto patterson, in west patterson.  cuz the extra 10 minutes makes a difference.  with rain the night before, this mornings temperature was a bit cold.  the venue has a three story height and with clear skies looks over into a decent view of the suburbs.  we arrived at an ungodly hour for alcoholics...and today even moreso because we had slept nothing.  while the wedding party got ready and took pictures, i took veteran naps, calming my nerves, settling my skin tone and continually retooling my 20 minutes of officiant duties.  after a quick makeup touchup and a large glass of whiskey, it was already time for the ceremony.  i walked down the aisle and KILLED IT.  the sun came out, i waved at my friends, took a deep breath and just let experience take over.  public speaking takes practice, non scripted public speaking takes experience and a mature understanding of the words that are coming out of your mouth, and charisma involves a deep grasp of the audience at hand and at a wedding you cater to the couples specific beam of happiness...u let their smiles shine in what u say...and before you know it.  I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU MAN AND WIFE...amazing.

cocktail hour involved ketel and soda's and a lot of hello's a lot of OMG long time.  "the ultimate NYU reunion" as evelyn put it.  calamari, peking duck, ravioli, roast pork lined the room and NYU alcoholics filled the middle of the room.  the midday sun made drinking a bit odd, but for a seasoned crew by the time we sat down for lunch, everyone seemed slurringly happy.  chung noted that i was placed at the "korean table" but that wasn't the shocker as much as the sight of the back 3 tables filled no longer with rowdy bachelors, but rather couples blissfully entrenched in a comparison of today's wedding to their own or soon to be wedding.  there's only three of us left.  tiff, frank and i.

it's quite interesting how the tri-state suburbs embody the same type of american cuisine.  a distinct difference from new york city and an overwhelming nostalgia when it hits your taste buds.  the salad was really good.  but i can't remember the last time i had italian dressing.  that american italian combination for quantity and a richness of palate..."more cheese please".   i ate two pieces of bread.  and have no recollection of the main course.  nor eating dessert.  there is this big blur in the middle where the bride and groom did a cowboy jew lifting in the crowd, frank did an awesome dance post bouquet toss....frank's speech, brians speech...and the cake cutting.  and before i knew it, i had to pack up to head back to the city.  5pm exhausted.  drunk.

the korean table.
