the art of a cover

i love boyce avenue.  but it really is a hit or miss. bad song selection.  rule of thumb.  u can't cover a singer that already has an amazing voice (can't cover bruno, can't cover taio cuz outside the pop and autotune, he can sing).  even if you were to sing an acoustic version or a rock version, it's just never going to trump the original vocals.  at best u'd even out when covering a pop 40 hit. obvious exceptions david cook - always be my baby.  but even he knew to cover the opposite gender.  pop melodies and quasi ok vocals are perfect for any rock/acoustic covers.  these songs are so good. beware they'll be on repeat.

boyce - fireworks - can someone tell me what soundtrack song this reminds them of?  i can't remember it.  it's definitely some teen hs coming of age football movie. i can see it in my head.  ending of the movie.  camera shoots the hs football stadium....sun coming up.  shadow on the parking lot....then a shot of the field.  then flashbacks of laughter.  and the narration comes in.
