Bondi Beach is around 20 mins cab ride from the city centre, but accomodation near the beach is mostly disgusting backpacker places and I wouldn't recommend it.
If you would like to stay in the City Centre the Swissôtel (5star) is going for $188 a night, which is quite a good deal.
