blogging may be your calling.

there's no denying that im addicted to this thing.  and while im constantly brainstorming to parlay this fever of online voyeurism (the act of personal social marketing rather than actual media development) into something lucrative, others, like mr squarehead simon, want to study it academically.  while we both agree that the internet is an untapped resource and has only begun its transfomation of human life, he poses the need for chronic analysis by those immersed in online addiction rather than journalists peeping their heads in to claim rumor of an already plateaued trend, i on the other hand, as the preferred genre of cyber addict, find a more pratical approach by paralleling internet persona and "number of times getting laid". overall, it should be studied across all sectors, but with sex being such an easy sell point, and my greatest need, sign me up.

"in this day and age if someone doesn't have AIM, how would you feel about that?"

coincidentally, and aiding the conversation, i was listening to a bill simmons podcast of an interview with mr paul shirley (for the record, im relieved simmons doesn't sound like a homo - barry
bonds esque, and he's quite witty too, he talks like he writes -- pretty damn cool, he's def on my "to meet" list) , an nba journeyman who just came out with a book, "can i keep my jersey", documenting his nba experiences.  basically just one big blog right?  (im gonna get the book later today and check it out).  kind of like if ashlee simpson had a blog instead of a reality show, isn't that what it would be?  of course not cuz i don't expect ashlee to be able to string --...let me stop there, lets just put it this way, and i quote bill "basketball players have written books before but this is the first time since bill bradley, life on the run, where the player actually wrote it...r u surprised that u're the first iowa state player to write a book and not marcus fizer or jamal tinsley?"...there is this other book out there where someone just writes a memoir on partying and it ends up being a huge hit...someone remind me of the name?  and then there was this nyu student blogging about sleeping in the library and ended up getting free housing...the book "the game" is a best seller!~where is my niche?

there's a bunch of decent soundbytes in this podcast but for purposes of this post, here are some more relevant things....

in terms of going for girls with boyfriends....

Boyfriends, I can handle. Relationships have to end at some point. And
as my quasi-colleague Chuck Klosterman once wrote, winning over a girl
with a boyfriend is easy. In that case, it is necessary to beat out
only one guy. But when a girl is single, the competition has a
population of approximately three billion.

then there's the - how many people would you have in your posse...

you'd want to have the right number to take a cab and i'd want ot make sure no one was better looking than me...definitely have one fat
guy. bachelor party by numbers of 4...ideally seven because there's always one extra. it'd be fun to have people directly tied to
your well being at all times....everything that happens to you would
directly affect them good or bad...

this is why i write...

at the end of it all....i have this book that when i'm 75...if i
never write another one...or do anything nothing constructive...i'll be able to pick
up this book and remember all of these things that i did...and thats
really cool......

i don't think writers really peak late 40s...everything u write between 22-35...u realize 9 months later that u could have done it better...

here's the link. listen. subscribe. it's good.

i skimmed this very very briefly, but 1- a friend of mine had the idea of 'datinghistory.com' or something so you can easily "google" a potential date before going out with them.... and people can post testimonials/negative feedback kind of thing.  i don't think he wants the idea anymore so you can have it, but i want credit/a job/something =P  2- i picked up a guy in 1999 in san francisco while there on a business trip.  when it was time for me to leave, i asked him for his email address and he said he didn't have one bc he didn't have a computer.  in 99, the internet was at an all time peak/high (though one could argue it's much more widespread now, that WAS near the height of the boom, if not THE height) ... and he lived practically IN silicon valley.  did i call him?  did i look him up, write him via snail mail, or anything?  NOPE.  i had no interest at that point.  so if i met a guy who didn't have aim right now, it might be a little weird (unless he's like, i g-chat, fine) but the weirdest would be no email (aside from work email bc i think that's like, standard issue).
