the cheese plate in asia just doesn't seem to have any flavor. it's got the initial taste of cheese. and maybe even the smell. but after you take a few bites, the cheese has absolutely no flavor. doesn't really coat your tongue, doesn't really have that full bodied richness that hits the back of your mouth and comes back again. it's an odd airy pungent flavor. maybe not salty enough? can't quite figure it out. the past two cheese plates i've had in korea, and then i remember eating the cheese in beijing. both no bueno. hmmm....
