paris is the best thing to happen to me since bbm.

i feel like i've enriched my life by 30%.  i spent my whole life studying european history because america comes from europe.  and i spent the rest of my life being asian and traveling asia.  and only until now do i fully grasp and pull together the deep history europe has influenced on the rest of the world first hand.  for instance, i've only learned about the church.  i've only learned about arches.  stained glass windows.  coining.  etc.  i've only seen colonized countries with "wannabe" churches, smaller, less complicated architectural designs in asia.  and now i see the real thing.  it's basic size, details is awe inspiring.  and then i realize thats where it all came from.   that french opera house reminded me of the opera house in hochiminh.  AHHH!

i never understood new yorkers saying "the weather is so nice right now.  all i want is some wine. good crusty bread and a good book."  other than the fact that laying in the park doing nothing has little appeal to me, i never understood the baguette craving.  that's cuz the bread isn't generally as tasty as the way french people make it. and for someone that doesn't drink wine.  i like wine now.  there is very little bad wine served around paris.  it's all good.  and it doesn't give you that hangover i experience so often in HOUSTON.

my 2nd time in europe.  and still i am in shock at seeing Caucasians with non american features.  french people are skinny.  bony. pointy noses.  curly hair. lots of body hair.  the girls are hot.  skinny tall. hot. it's not white people that are lushes.  it's americans.  french people enjoy life.  like to be skinny.  they are delicate.  they chew their food.  savor the taste of food.  they eat a lot of salads. and don't over stuff their salads.  make delicious croissants and even though pastries are still way to sweet, they are delicious.

sparkling lights on the eiffel tower are cheesy.

chez l'ami louis. - ohmyaamazing.  best wine i'll ever have.

the key to a croissant is chewing it.  is to not scarf it down like an american.  french croissants deserve its own chapter of adjectives.  light crusty flaky beautiful golden brown.  and when u bite through that crust where it flakes apart and then chew down squishing the entire bread downwards where your teeth need to cut through the dough in the middle....then the bread hits your tastes buds..and u slowly chew through the starch to unlock the butter swirling around everywhere.  it goes down as one smooth piece of butter baked good mixture and all u want is to eat another bite as quick as possible.  a sip of espresso to wash it down and another bite.  and another bite. and another croissant.  and another chocolate croissant. omg. soo good.

libanaise derserves its own chapter.  being american, all i knew about beirut is pan am hijacking.  of course i think its in the desert.  with arabs wearing things over their heads and women totally covered in black.  who knows its history cuz i never read it.  they speak english too? and french?  and the country is beautiful?  and it's half christian?  who knew?  and they have a huge population in paris?  passy to be exact.  perfect cuz i loved hanging out with them.  a minority in paris. it's like hanging with asians in the states.

picnic.  the supermarket is cheap!  mousse de canard is only 3 euros.  3 euro bottle of wine is amazing.  but we got 11 euro sancerre.  also amazing.  and ate wayy too much sodium that i felt like crud the entire rest of the day.

anna gets her own paragraph...if only u weren't lynns friend.  at 21.  consequential thinking is quite strong.  it ain't the age.  we walk.  we talk.  we get along.  nothing more to say.  and i introduced you to google maps.  you introduced me to that thyme oil mixture.  whatever that thyme oil mixture is.  i love it.  zaaattaaaar!  that's the only thing i wanted to eat when i came home after drinking.  olive oil thyme and sesames?
