post the Politically Correct Era of the 20th century spearheading the likes of civil rights, feminism, affirmative action, gay and lesbian rights, animal rights and it's respective backlashes to go with it, here and now with the 21st centuries first decade upon us, equality rights may have rightfully smeared boundaries of injustice yet at the same time, completely erased mother natures truths of distinctive life on earth.
these days, all i read about in media is a blatant disappearing act of male masculinity alongside the rise of female testosterone. this trend, across socio-political and economic aspects is seemingly lauded in todays age of the "unisex". where woman is man, and man is woman. where gay is straight and straight is gay. where white is black and black is white. while my usage of "unisex culture" spans across all areas of orientation, for this posts purposes, im more focused on the gender issue.
"10. there's one indulgence every man should try in his lifetime: if you're straight, sleep with a man at least once, and if you're gay don't go through life without sleeping with a woman. either way, you might be surprised at how natural it will feel if you can get past the mind-fuck of stereotypes. in the end, its just another person that you are relating to in a physical way" - tom ford on his 10th rule of style
id say that modern day bohemian sexual adaptation is liberating, eye-opening and even awe-inspiring for some. but at some point, the innate phenomenon of awkward and "not right" must kick in at somepoint where mass media doesn't idolize, italicize comments such as the one above. and with the growth of the alpha gay male (t. ford), todays backlash spawns from the male hiding in passive aggression behind that CEO wife...growing stronger with each day - bringing back nietzche's inner man, the asshole.
"and yet dave has a shady side habit, an indulgence he tells himself he's entitled to: in manhattan, where he works, he frequents a select circuit of massage parlors that offer ' happy ending' services. at first, he says he felt bad about what he was doing. but the more he hears about the transgressions of male friends and colleagues, the more it seems that his 'extra curricular' activities as he calls them aren't simply about sexual boredome or scratching an itch in the new way. he's just like many men his age, tapping into the asshole within" - details mag - sian kennedy
