here's the deal. beef in korea is expensive. there's mostly australian or american imported beef. however, there is the korean version of wagyu which they claim to be better than the japanese original. either way, it's expensive. which then causes a common theme amongst visitors. "korean food in LA is better". a statement that is pretty much true. lots of koreans in LA and higher quality ingredients. in terms of 고기, i agree. however, it's the other dishes that i find are much better in korea. the 알탕's. the 간장게장's....stuff like that i find much better here. and for this reason, especially due to price disparity, i don't eat beef in korea. i eat 삼겹살 and soups. and for the most part, i drink soju. drinking is cheaper than eating.
