i hadn't been back in taiwan in a while. i didn't miss it. i was too caught up in korea. it was a new place. modern. clean. girls pretty. and comfortable to live. on the flip side, i was too caught up in korea. culturally elitist, not foreigner friendly, language barrier. difficult to live. but the goal was simple, work hard. make money and live it up as i always do. after about 4 months, i started feeling tired of learning, tired of translating everything, tired that living couldn't come more naturally. work is not easy to begin with so why can't the world around me cut me a little slack and just let me live. so when i finally went back to taiwan, i had such a great appreciation of how wonderful, easy, friendly taiwan is, taiwan people are and so much more natural of an environment for me to be in.
"i realized you loove taiwan"
"i guess i do."
i never liked taiwanese food that much until i dated louisa. i think its cuz i started going to the south more and then finally making the right local friends to take me to the good spots. i've always been able to eat asian food everyday while she constantly craved international cuisine. (not that she's much of an eater anyways). not only do i love the food, i find taiwan to be extremely convenient to do weekend activities. cheap, easy, quick, fun, good food, and really, the girls in taiwan are really just as good looking as the korean girls, its just up to what style you prefer.
last week, we woke up on saturday and decided to go to 高雄。 stayed only for one night and came back the next day. this weekend we woke up and i thought "LETS GO TO THE BEACH". and so we did. hungover from the night before, steve didn't even make it home. lets start the story from friday.
"jeannie, how dressy is this event? can i wear jeans? do i have to wear a suit?"
and so in the sweltering heat. we showed up at the event HUNGRY. and while they served dainty h'ordeurves i double fisted whiskey glasses combining tasting portions to make a real glass of "whiskey on the rocks". and as i passed out macallan 18 on the rocks, i found myself downing a few in between distribution. steve was down. louisa is always down. jeannie was getting loud. and as i made my way upstairs, look at who we ran into. WENDY! =). wendy wasn't drinking. but steve started harrassing the servers. 小姐, 過來幫我們倒酒。 你跟我們一起喝啦。 快酒店了。 要下班了。 你就乾公杯。 and so that's how we got wasted. and so i don't even remember going to eat afterwards. 滷肉飯?? cuz we went to luxy after. for taio cruz? who the heck knows. we were too busy at the bar taking shots. (i was still in a suit in JULY TAIWAN HEAT). louisa went with jeannie to marquee. i left luxy. went to find louisa. went home.
steve rang at 11am. "my date cancelled. u want to go to the beach?"
he passed out at rosa's after the macallan event, had to go back to get his car. which he found this note (請勿停在私人停車位)。 apparently it was my idea for him to park there. 就停啦!! totally something i would say wasted. he picked us up. in 20 minutes we were in 基隆。 lets eat first. 1500 NT for 7 courses. for 3 people. not to mention it was the best 蝦鬆 i've ever had! we ate, it was hot, i was sweaty. 10 minutes later we were on the beach! 翡翠灣。 nap sleep detox drink beer. go in the water. it's the same as busan. just taiwanese. live music wasn't so good though, but its a good idea.
4 hours on the beach. louisa went home to get ready for her date. steve and i went to get larry, ting ting, jennifer and angel. we went shrimping. good thing we brought larry, or we'd all starve. somehow we stopped by 士林 for a while jennifer and angel went to buy some stuff. it was around midnight by then. that's when we hit up 錢櫃林森北路。 2 bottles. before i knew it. it was 6am. and we were eating 蛋餅。 哈哈。
hahaha...dj jerry!
我不降key.
