single with no date equals no nice dining. 2 singles with 2 couples can equate to nice dining @ the bar. good for OCD people who don't like to share. good for the see saw of vulgar conversation disparity at the table. good for drivers at one end and beer drinkers at the other end.
kagaya was awesome! i haven't had a meal like that in a while. the moment i got to the small 1000 sq foot restaurant i had a good feeling. the steam from the hot pots at other tables not only smelled delicious, it smelled acutely clean and delicate. the slices of meat looked perfect and fresh. the dining atmosphere was immaculate, not crowded with superfluous decoration, completely functional and rightly spaced for maximum capacity cuz apparently its always packed. i went to the bathroom to wash my hands before the meal and when a one stall bathroom is spotless with zero smell, zero rust, zero stain, u pretty much know the place is gonna ROCK. the menu isn't complicated, u just decide what protein u want and everything just ensues. what i love about japanese cuisine is that every dish is designed with a purpose. a beginning, middle and end, it's meticulously constructed to attack ur mouth from the front of the tongue to the back, to hit the roof of ur mouth then allow the juices to follow accordingly. to let the texture of the bite to complement not just that bite, but the previous bite and the bite afterwards. it all makes sense and its not meant to be drowned in excess. ('cept maybe alcohol) hahah. appetizers change daily. our broth was not only skimmed of foam but of oil. congee and udon was a bit much before consciously knowing clubbing was afterwards. the banana dessert was aweessome!!!
