Friends and family…

Please be seated.

We welcome you today to the marriage of Simon Leung and Kathy.  We are met together in the presence of their dearest family and friends to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony. This is indeed a joyful time.  in which we witness the love of these two people expressed in the joining of their lives together.

"Love means to commit oneself without guarantee, to give oneself completely in the hope that our love will produce love in the loved person. Love is an act of faith, and whoever is of little faith is also of little love." - Erich Fromm (1900-1980) German-American Psychoanalyst, Social Philosopher

Good afternnon everyon.  How is everyone doing today?  Good?  Let me take a second to introduce myself…My name is Alexander chin.  Im one of Simons friends from college and for all purposes today and for future reference….u can just call me reverend chin.

A few months ago…simon called me and asked me to be his officiant for his wedding.  I had no clue what that was or meant….,but after some googling.  I was flattered by the seriousness of the offer.  For those that know me, me administering a wedding is pretty much as ironic as it gets, as life has never matured past bachelordom and excess.  However, contrary to popular belief, I am a hopeless romantic and that’s why I am flattered and honored to be here today, being a part of this occasion.

“For one human being to love another; that is perhaps the most difficult of our tasks; the ultimate, the last test and proof; the work for which all other work is but preparation.” – Rainer Maria Rilke

I spent nights googling things like true love. Endless love. Hopless romantic. Greek mythology.  Song lyrics only to realize that the true inspiration of the ideals of love is simon.  The squareheaded, calculated, and seemingly stoic….would never look the part…but is in essence the purest breed of renaissance romantics.  He calculates because he wants the ideal.  He talks of filandering only as a reference of finding the opposite.  The ideals of love and the yearning for a reputed soul mate….someone whom after a few few precious hours in café…..he knew he wanted her in his life.  Forever.

This ceremony is the legal blending of hearts that have already been beating in unison at the same time a home is being formed and a relationship established that is approved by the state

PLEDGE

Kathy do you take Simon to be your husband, to love him, to cherish him, and to continually bestow upon him your heart's deepest devotion? {I do.}

And Simon do you take Kathy to be your wife, to love her, to cherish her, and to continually bestow upon her your heart's deepest devotion? {I do.}

Please join hands, face one another and repeat after me:

Simon,

you are my beloved, to love and to cherish, and to have and to hold, for richer, for poorer, for better, for worse, in sickness and in health, in sadness and in joy, to share our lives together, from this day forward.

Kathy

you are my beloved, to love and to cherish, and to have and to hold, for richer, for poorer, for better, for worse, in sickness and in health, in sadness and in joy, to share our lives together, from this day forward.

 As the years go by, you will find more and more in one another a loveliness which neither comes nor goes, which neither flowers nor fades, no longer even taking the form of face or hand or words or knowing. Everything in your marriage can partake of this mysterious beauty beyond beauty, until wherever you turn you see reflections of this loveliness.

We ask that the vision you have of one another be always informed by that radiant power which first brought you together. Love is stronger than your conflicts, bigger than life's changes, the miracle always inviting you to learn, to blossom, to expand. It is to love that you must always return.

TO BEST MAN  "May I have the rings”?
