Some updates:

  1. I have no clue why Ie had the urge to eat out every night but it proven to be every bit as wasteful as starting a fire with cash.  Given that I probably have the palate of snob to the exponential degree, Veritas,  Craft, and Casa Mono were less indulgences but more of a craving for some decent cuisine the past 2 weeks.  Hey, is it so bad to crave a lil?foie gras every so often?  (I didn?even get to order it -- annie doesn like that stuffuH~).  Casa Mono is definitely a place to try.  Any restaurant with a closer to casual ambiance strung parallel with tappas style dishes has a higher probability to get a HIT on a good dish due to sheer ordering volume.  8 dishes split between 2 people, 1 bottle of absolutely splendid wine (which I don remember the name, probably due to the fact I am no wine connoisseur ?although I do try to look the part when poured the first glass, swirling and obnoxiously slurping to give the standard nod of approval, meanwhile I just thinking awddamnnit it, this better be good for how much it costs? and no room for dessert.  Bottom line ?good eats. Go try and make sure you delve into the wine list.   Because of Casa Mono, Bar Jamon is due a visit maybe even this weekend.
  2. It very unlikely I visit a restaurant twice for a couple of simple reasons.  1. nyc fine dining is never as good as it costsnd basically never worth a re-visit.  Maybe, the wine list is worth another cameo, but what do I care a whiskey manACALLAN cha cha cha~. 2. there are soo many new places to try every week, why go 2x to someplace no matter how good, chances are the new places would be just as good if not betterake the risk!
  3. Moving on, Veritas ?ugh completely forgot it was restaurant week.  Ridiculously packed on a weeknight.  Due to a 9 pm dinner, tackling the bread was the only option, which was hh?SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">   Is good bread a sign of a good restaurant?  No. but if youe hungry and expecting an overall fine dining experience it something to be noted. ?/B>Pause- took me some time to remember my entr嶪, Wild Salmon.  I was just reading an article earlier that day about the new abundance of Good Wild Salmon and it to be stated that the difference is tremendous.  Fat content, Size, texture, taste, all ten fold better than its farmed cousin.  Who cares what the sauce was, the fish spoke for itself.  http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2004/06/23/FDGFC78J241.DTL

Prix Fix is not my cup of tea basically because I don really like dessert.  Sweets are good, but I          don needm.   Can really remember the dessert anyways.

  1. Craft ?biggest bust of m all.  Colicchio been known to create some dining masterpieces and I was craving some neo-american concoctions the night before so made some reservations for the following day.  I must say, the d嶰or of the place is quite nice.  I definitely a big fan of these tables with the drawers under them.  Reminds me of grade school days, I almost looking for the waiter to pull out some elmer glue along with the coaster for the water.  YES I LOVE SPARKLING WATER.  Blame it on the genes but our fridge at home is stocked with Perrier and Pellegrino.  The slow cooked entr嶪 are pretty much a given to be awesome at a notable establishment.  Concentration of flavors is usually the chef main goal and when using the finest ingredients and not skimping out on any aspect of the dish (could also be misconstrued as WASTING)?the braised short rib was nothing short of awesome.  Herculean - not overcooked scallop shows the kitchen knows what their doing but ONLY 3??ome onm ready for mcdonalds afterwards!  Pistachio Ice cream is the absolute best Ie ever hadonna stop by next door one of these days to pick some up for home.
  2. JERUSALEM ARTICHOKE ?those jews, always got to one up everyone ehh?..hehe..j/k.  it not even an artichoke, its more of a cross between a meaty mushroom and potato.  A homefries dish.  Anywaysust thought this item deserved its own side paragraph as it is a side dish which Ie never heard of.
  3. CRUDO IS OVERRATED!! What is everyone obsession with RAW BAR!  Blegh.  It good, just never THAT good.

Wolfgang tonight. Il let you know if it really gives Lugers a run for its money.

Chappelle standup: Ie never been to the estbury music fair?and the title is quite deceiving.  I was informed pretty last minute that there is no fair, no games no rides no cotton candy rather it merely the name of the site.  Small circular Greek Play arena served pretty ideal for a one-man show.  Could not make out the opening guy name but he was pretty funny.  Tons of sound effects and a lot of talk about weed.  Not to shabby.  Chappelle, is undeniably hilarious!  He works the crowd and pretty much lets his act complement the audience rants rave cheers and jeers.  But that was exactly the problem  his popularity of the chappelle show wreaks havoc for his standup.  The audience just couldn blab out  rick james bitch?enough disrupting his routine and ultimately making the latter half of the show a lil shabby.  Just lost a lot of energy and comic flow.  BOO ON THE CROWD ?think dave mathews crowd meets negril on a Tuesday night oh yeahrow in some eminem concert white boy crowd and there you have it.  UNRULY.

Weekend:

Its come to our attention that swimming or any pool activity is synonymous with fast digestion.  As per every bbq Ie ever had at my house, wel eat eat eat?wade in the pool for about 10 minutes and pretty much be ready to eat immediately.  We would like to conduct this survey in saying we actually did some activity in the water, but due to the need for scientific accuracy, I must heed to exaggeration and state, we only waded in the water.  This phenomenon deserved some post weekend, work-boredom research.  Here are the results.

Why Swimming Makes You So Hungry

The pool is a unique exercise environment that places different demands on your body than any land-based exercise does. For one, the pool does not require you to fight gravity. You'll have to work a little harder to match the target heart rates you achieve on land, but you won't be as likely to injure yourself. Second, the water's natural cooling effects keeps you core body temperature lower than a comparable effort on land.

Also keep in mind that you will feel hungrier immediately after a swim than immediately after an equally taxing dryland workout, such as running or aerobics. These are bouncing activities that cause mild distress in the abdominal area that temporarily suppresses the appetite. Swimming, however, supports the abdominal area during exercise allowing you to feel comfortable eating immediately afterward.

thanks for the review mister food connoisseur.  i've realized one can live in new york his/her entire life and not explore the various parts of the city that define new york for what it is...places he'll/she'll never see or find elsewhere.  even tho it seems it hasn't been the "best" for you so far...at least you're out there...afterall, when is routine ever fun?  it's something to marvel.

I love sparkling water but it gives me gas.  I've learned to avoid it in...sensitive situations.
Restaurant food blows.  Cooking rules.
