dear sunil

....my readers think i am this gluttonous 'anorexic' pig scouring the world in hopes of depeleting the world of food not by ingesting but by taking pictures.  Little do they have full grasp of the man who started it all...."mr food" inspiration himself....(barring carbs)...you.  1.5 years of travels and 'dear sunil posts', i will continue to write to you....posting more food pictures to make you jealous, haha, in 'overpopulated asian countries where people sleep underwater and on top of each other'...it's funny how old that line is....back then u used it against the ur "2cool4school ASIAN suitemate"....when ur inspiration was derived from the world of 'HIGH FINANCE and STERN'...and while the irony is thick with your career path, it's not as ironic as the career path i've taken the past few years...and with me trying to figure out how it all began..."it just might all go back to you, and just as you've preached, the world revolves around you and the ugliest gold zippo ever".....i'll pray for you my good man. stay strong, stay healthy, stop smoking...and most of all keep it real....jack and diet cokes all around....this one's for you.  CHEERS.

so here we go, how about just a long run-on of food....

right off the plane we hit up....jalan sultan prawn noodle soup for prawn and pork rib noodles, i prefer no soup with side plates of the fried fried fried fried cuttlefish, tofu, taro, hot sauce combo....did some unpacking, visited the niece then dinner @ food republic, wisma food court - oyster omlette, char kuey teow, roti parota...i was greedy so i ordered large orders for everything...hahah.....and somewhere around midnight my aunt started the the daily routine....the nightly run for grass jelly, soy milk and dou hua...i was exhausted but i guess the sugar in the snack gave me just enough energy to meet up with jae....we walked around with tiger beers and heinekens until i sat down on a plastic stool and dirty table on geylang lor 9 for beef kuey teow and prawn mee...for the record - tiger beer tastes like shit even a bit buzzed....9am thursday i go for the 3rd swim in 14 hours consciously trying to burn off the calories....11.30am @ the bhasa to buy fruit but even before we hit the market we hit the food stand for lor mee and fish/chicken congee...then when we get back i take my 15th shower because we were going to lei garden @ chijmes for dimsum (crocodile soup)...another shower after lunch and  mangosteen, shi jia (custard apple?), mango are offered to me snack...i've long lost all control of CONTROL and i've begun to embrace it trying to rationalize the heat as a metabollic aid alongside a decent amount of sweaty walking....so on my walk to pick up my parents from the footmassage i bought 2 TOTO's...maybe an hour later rowsalind picked me up for dinner @ kuriya in greatworld city...awesome...(grilled fish, tataki, fat tuna belly, wasabi panacotta- greentea tiramisu, mikan pudding, white chocolate creme brulee, softshell crab, grilled mushroom, okura lobster tomato sauce,)...what's better than talking about food whilst ingesting food...and talking about ingesting food whilst being in pain from more food....EATING MORE FOOD....ben n jerry's being open at 10.30pm was a sign....so i had sweet cookies n cream and oatmeal raisin, great combo!....i come home to find my mom sleeping, aunt watching tv and dad exhausted.....AND HUNGRY....so around midnight newton was calling....fried fried fried fried fried tofu and cuttlefish and taro with ice kachang to smooth it out.....woke up stuffed but who could resist more mangos, the green oval mangos have a much more aromatic taste that can only help open the appetite for what was next....shangrila buffet...oh man buffets are soo tiring...we got there at 1.30 with the place closing at 2.30....and 5 star buffets covering 50 gajillion ethnic foods deserves 5 star network global coverage, i killed that shit ron burgandy style with papaya salad, sashimi, roti parota and tons of weird curry, 2 bowls of ice cream (with cookies), choco fondue, satay, dimsum...oh i can't remember anymore...i think my parents went bezerk with 5 minutes left and filled the 8 person table up like a chinese new year dinner...i'll have you know, being able to walk afterwards, we went shopping but only with a pit stop at the local durian stand on holland road first...*BURP*.....even after horrendous, strenuous, standby shopping with mom, i think everyone was still stuffed so we decided to forgo dinner for a light dou hua/grass jelly/ soymilk.....i hit up LOOF with alice...got hammered off vodka and soda's (NO CARBS)....but with hunger kicking in around midnight guess what i was craving... newton kuey teow and murtabak....didn't throw up i swear it!....saturday morning swim to wash off that hangover and filled up stomach with killerney kopitiam - mee siam, nasi lemak, iced coffee, kaya toast, chicken curry with french loaf....then delifrance sandwich at the airport......

+2 kilo's

hola.. i didn't do anything recently to make the discs protude. i had the surgery our sophmore year (a 3 disc hemilaminectomy) and since then they've come back out. it wasn't a cure for anything but just temporary relief from paralyzation.... i'm ok i guess, but it'll be neverending.

my feeble intellect can only manage generic insight.
but isn't that how conversations are?  they're not books.  they're just meanderings in concentric thoughts of points of meeting and disjunction.  and i don't think it's an easy thing to do in a movie and have it not seem contrived and really like meaningful.  you know?  you're always such a critic.
