starfish and coffee.....
i guess it is that i am settling back into the swing of things, rekindling with everything i used to love but was just away from....does that mean i'm fickle with my tastes or rather as i'd like to see it, that that "chameleon" able to assimilate to find what around me fits with me! (yes derek i used the word chameleon)...even as my body temperature seemingly drops right along with the motion of the scale (which is awesome!) i'm still embracing the cooler, colder weather...each breath of brisk cold air, crisp inhalations and that immediate refreshing tingle going straight down to the pit of your stomach and rushing right up into the hypothalamus all at once mentholy coating....(and yes, i miss my winter attire as well, layering is always good for those "fat" days....)
and in saying all that....and before i begin the concert review...."thank you crystal for taking me to the show...you mother effin' rock!...." (i put in a good word for you with victor...)
my ears don't ring anymore but it sure feels like they do after saturday night....oh man i haven't gone to a concert in so long and i'm reviewing it not as the auricular critique but rather the journalist needing to unleash that emotional monsoon from rockstars....i was already fatigued beforehand knowing that i would have to endure a full show of standing room....the preshow beer crept in slowly to help sore legs and back from afternoon football, even as the lights dimmed and the crowd cheered, i still wasn't convinced that i fully wanted to be there...but once the first chords were strung and especially once wertz started belting out those notes....it'd be hard not to hear ME belting out those notes throughout the entire island of manhattan......southern boys with southern charm....psssh......southern boys with southern guitars....yee haww....i'll keep my boyish looks but trade in my metrocard for that cowboy hat and the that lighthearted choral embrace...it may seem he's doing some kind of s&m act on his guitar but all notes harmonize quite perfectly with his voice...and if that wasn't enough, he had a partner with a guitar...solo-ing away adding that complex feel into his simple melodies....i knew maybe 2 songs, but sang along anyway, and the genius of smaller artists ending legendary hits by u2 inbtwn chorus' made me all the more attached to his songs....
i just had to check the tshirt to type is name here - matt nathanson -- it's always awesome when the artist throws out moronic banter between songs most likely introducing the song and its emotional background, in most cases backlash...."this song is about the ex girlfriend that....slept with 7 guys at the same time she was sleeping with me.....here we go....'sharon' " ....it's not the homo in me that praises kudos to this guy, but the rockstar in me that is utterly JEALOUS....crap man...i wish i could stand up there in an argyle vest looking like the over the edge preppy nice guy turned pedafile jammin acoustic rock to packed standing rooms....its been 2 days since the show and i can't quite remember the details of how to describe the music or the band, just that i was really really tired but the show brought a grin from ear to ear and pushed my boyd through fatigue into the sidestep and headbob....gawd i feel soo inspired....
pics...
wertz..."i've never known a love so true...."
and of course he comes out to meet the fans..."hi i'm matt wertz..."
