"Money is a repository of unprocessed emotion, a symbol not only of one's relationship to the world but also of one's relationship to oneself."

Accountability: quite recently, due to the influence of a friend of mine, i've been on this rage of friendship accountability..to take the role of the person who chimes in as a pseudo-parental voice...someone to push aside the jokes and the apathy of recent american generations and really take that post collegiate leap of social responsibility.

(speaking as a recent graduate) - universities purposely cover such a wide demographic that a persons social network includes a disparate circle... focusing more on those close to you that are weaker and less proactive in aspirations...it is truly important for one to take that extra effort and provide some sort of guiding light for those a little off...there is never a time where "there is no point because they won't listen"...i truly believe that one should always try...regardless of percentage of success...

(to care for health and social well being should be a no brainer) - here's an arguement posed and which is why i referenced the quotation above...personal expectations and goals vary due to the nature of different credentials and career paths and state of mind...here, i am focusing on people's state of mind to be content with less than their potential...is it a friends obligation to really talk to them about maybe pushing their limits a bit more?  or because they are happy...you just leave them be happy?  the ability to feel content without meeting full potential when stemming from low personal expectations is something that i feel represents a need to be talked to...

qualifiers: i by no means am preaching for people to become the social snob of the group...'martha stewart-ing' everyone to be prim and proper and delectable (haha..very ironic), but to really go against relationship apathy and maybe take a stand...

Narcissistic Hunger: fine, i'm a tree hugger.  I like posting about current events and definitely want to share my opinions on stuff...so here i go...as the slue of emails with subject line "carbombs galore" flood the inbox, i take a break from social banter to peruse the day's current events and the first thing i see...Two Car Bombs, and Land Mines, Add to Casualties in Iraq ..here on xanga, i have spent my previous entry typing away about the wonders of the irish carbomb while people across the planet are dying cuz of a real carbomb...i type here to share my life cuz i want to be heard?...i want to tell all of you whats going on in my drunken life?...ehh...my personal life is lame to be heard...maybe i feel as though posting of global events is a more noble cause....

Reagan's Death: bush is trying to juxtapose his presidency with that of Reagans?...jeezus...political agenda's are soo manipulatively clever...-- was it in demolition man that they referrenced the "schwarzzaneger library"?  haha..if only he was american born...

Troy: i didn't think it was as bad as everyone said it was...epics made with modern day digital technology always provide the movie with ample emotional force and visual panache <~~i love this word

Mama's: maybe cheap-eats wasn't such a good idea last night.  the alphabet city comfort food hole in the wall was pretty good, its just that all 4 of us came out with that uncomfortable gluttoned groan....

ps...someone needs to wash the sidewalks down there...friggin soo many flies gawddammnit!...nyc's ghetto area's are still ghetto...and its probably a good thing bloombergs kicking the poor off the island and creating a lil bougie niche next to the atlantic...lets put sidewalk cleaning next to the noise reduction bill.

Vinyasa Yoga: male hip flexors are known to be a piece of shit, why?...basically because we don't give birth...which i guess makes it a good thing...but i've been on this overall trend to increase flexibility which hopefully in turn will increase endurance and more importantly prevent quick fatigue...i've been trying to do these ab exercises that invovle some leg lifting and my hip flexors are just getting in the way...more tiring to lift the legs up than crunch...duH!....so now that i've entered the realm of yoga and a nice head massage at the end of class, anyone want to join me and give me pointers?  i think i fucked up on the updog position and my lower back is bit strained...doh~

sunil varghese bends it like beckham.

You really should be reading my site since we have begun this discussion.  What's wasted potential?  It means nothing in the eyes of another, in my mind.  As long as the person is completely happy, well...there's little to ask.  Sure, SOME people have a really good idea of what is "more likely" a better life but frankly, today's society values things that are utterly...stupid.
Does wearing a suit to work make someone a better person?  Does having a college degree make me smarter?  Are skinny girls more attractive than fat ugly ones?  Is it THAT important to wash your hands after you pee?
Bottom line...warped value systems.  Leave each one to his own...the only thing you can do is share your own justifications for existence and if someone else agrees with you, then you're money.

i agree with you that, as a good friend, you don't watch someone drowning, like that commercial about drinking where some girl is drowning and the friend is standing by on the dock watching.  but how you implement it is important to the effectiveness of it.  i don't like to come off as a parent or pseudo parent, but as a friend, who may have had similar experiences.  i've found that with most people, if you tell them something or criticize them, there's always an initial resistance and then you find out like maybe months later they made the change.
i think ppl don't like to be told what to do and if they do make a change in their personality habits, etc, it's usually effected only after they come to their own realizations about things and revisit some advice or friendly criticism made earlier.  i know that's how i am.  think it has a lot to do with pride and that people like to make their own decisions.  like if you force something on them, they feel as though their ability to make their own decisions, hence their intelligence is usurped by a friend who comes off as overly righteous and maybe even pretentious, even if your intentions are perfectly valid and in the best interests of the individual.
i always think of like one guy when we talk about this stuff.

I agree that money can be a symbol of one's relationship to the world but I would like to think that the people we surround with, that includes friends and family, helps us understand who we are. Eh?
