can you do soba totto and aburiya all in the same night?  and then back again.  it was the kind of effort needed to see people that you have known forever but your lifestyles have diverged through time.  people you love, people you care dearly about but u still live the life of a frat boy and they have grown up and become wholesome beings.  how long can u expect (urself) a jaded person talk about food food and more food.  that conversation is 15 years past it's peak.  and how can one not immediately get wasted within the first hour and a half of a meal...all while listening to others turn down drinks.  and how can one be the center of attention of some night from a year ago and then lead the same crowd to a new location?  it's tough work, yet maturing-ly needed.  inversely, one can argue that the stories of debauchery get old, however, it's the married people that love my stories of singledom the most and it's these same people that make ur life legitimate.  they add a barometer of comforting stability that i abuse.  kudos to those who stay friends with me.  well done.

happy birthday tat!

his biggest vice is "he put on a little weight and still wants to eat that 2nd porkchop"

‎"without planning i just sat down and played a couple of chords and suddenly i had this whole song that was a retelling of not so much of what i was doing on that great night but the idea that it was important to embrace the memory of it and recognize when something important is happening..."

you put 4 chinese people from 4 different continents and you get 4 people that just get each other.  that confusion upbringing is quite strong.  double springs.  fortune tellers.  beating your children.  same cuisine.  same dessert.  same expectations.  same methods of defying expectation.  same ways of coping with expectation.

for the week that i was home i got really really bored.  how much blogging/facebook/tv can you really do before you venture onto new ways to stir up trouble.  so i turned okcupid into a marketing exercise.  how to promote yourself for public appeal and how to maintain that spark into the 2nd tier of sustainable relationship.  all while trying to figure out where your own comfort level is.  and i've always said.  dating is probability + karma (floating variable).  if 10% is an accepted hit rate, then the formula only applies when critical mass when reached.  it's not one in ten, but rather ten out of a hundred.  you may strike oil your last ten in a row.

i explained this theory to mish over coffee.  how it takes a certain contrived, punch line ridden, major network comedy type panache to have mass appeal.  other different/special/quirky methods sway too far in one direction to cornering yourself to be mis interpreted because the bottom line in this case is lust/love/and the opposite sex.  and once u've sparked a response, i sit myself in the driver seat pushing the direction of the conversation into more personal information and hopefully without being too wordy.  good thing im never short for words...

do psychics need a plan B? don't psychics always live in plan B?

...i see water in your truman show theory...but it's more like truman show meets sim city or zynga...u can grow your realm hence increasing so much variety to the biosphere you forget that it's the truman show.

**and the reply**

I always assumed that psychics, like any other professional - are incapable of rendering services for themselves, such that if one were to their own reading, the outcome often is marked by indignant and inevitable atrophy...

water surrounds most far-fetched, kooky theories... but then i'd rather live in a kooky manner than subject myself to banality

and of course after my shpeel, mish says "sometimes its just right under your nose."  but that didn't stop me from my first online encounter either.  =)

the last time i was at finnigans it was 1999 over thanksgiving.  i came home from college, so did everyone from high school.  cheap drinks and old memories filled the place.  i hope i slept on someones couch that night cuz boy was there some drinking to be had that should not have involved driving.  and 13 years later, i met JT in huntington where nostalgia mixed with new found sense of maturity kicked in.  3 drinks over 4 hours, teary eyed as i walked past lacrosse unlimited and then a dinner that was reminiscent of the post football/wrestling/lacrosse practices meals on the way home.  suburban north face cuisine.  artichoke hearts and a pasta.  and it dawned on me once again...i'm not ready for the 'burbs.

watching/talking and eating with people that yearn for the stable life is... bewilderingly refreshing.  how someone can sit there and be happy with their bowl of cereal and want nothing more than another bowl of the same cereal is something i wish could infect me just a tad.  it's all perspective isn't it?

i see two people sit across from me.  in oppositie financial situations.  in opposite career paths.  but in similar relationship phases.  and the approach towards the future is an absolute inverse.  and the argument against being content is temptation?  greed?  and yet the argument against greed is that is there really anything else better?

"how are you so sure?  do you have doubts?"

i'm definitely not the right person to talk to about this stuff.  cuz i give perspective.  which gives options.  which is ultimately not necessary.

the next time i come back.  things and people will be different.  a quick stop at coffee shop to see john and hoan had them telling me the story of..."if you guys didn't joke about it, i would've gone into harry winstons and thought ring sizes came in small/medium or large"...and then after a quick coffee with mish who said "maybe u just need to look at whats right in front of you."....i realized...this is the last time i'll see this apt.

"why would anyone ask you for relationship advice?  i'd just hear it just so i can do the exact opposite" - CM.  i don't know why people ask me, but apparently they do.  and wait for my opinion.  i guess it's like a fat coach.  it's easy to teach the right thing no matter how far off you are from that truth.
