actually i think u should refrain from speaking to me unless u have something of use and substance to say....
happy birthday michiko! i had overdosed on codeine the night before and was throwing up a few hours before i hit the oscar event but after a few johnnie walkers....i felt a little better.
dz and i left a lil early for beauty and essex. at which i told her that she might be a bit disappointed by taipei. focus on family and friends. and then we did the dougie. happy birthday andrew fung
autumn/fung/ and a yamulke.
i typically rest and work on sunday. but i had already taken my long position friday. so i all i could do was sit and wait. so i went to brunch @ markt. at which point i find it very refreshing that for once someone actually understands what i do. so over mussels and bacon waffles, we talked about steam crackers and toluene. and that was followed up by enjoying the day in the park. which was probably the most productive conversation that i had. "i thought they were joking. you should have just come straight to me." - kyoung. "she only speaks korean and is going to korea for 9 months and has a boyfriend." ...at which point i responded "those don't sound like obstacles. im just looking for an entry point. u need to make this happen"....the others didnt enjoy that conversation as much as i did. so i just went home to watch the knicks lose in the playoffs...at least they made the playoffs.
strip house is terrible. i've been ordering rare steak. cuz my french colleagues says thats how french people eat it. i do prefer to taste the natural sweetness of aged meat. however the texture might be a bit too chewy and raw for me. i might have to start getting closer to medium rare again. regardless of the fact that i wasn't in the mood for steak. i just didn't find the food impressive. we had an interesting dynamic of company though. 2 couples. 1 friend and myself. the single soldier. im open about my singledom. and couples love talking about singles. and the 23 year old church girl remarks...

im going punch her in the face. give her the ring then tell her to make me a sandwich.
yes my dad is a doctor. and yes i know nothing about taking care about myself. and yes i O.D'ed on codeine this past weekend. i took too much cough syrup before i went to sleep. and the entire day i was in and out of consciousness. i just couldn't wake up. was dizzy and nauseous. i drank coffee to kick the funk but that just made me throw up. in hindsight, it's scary. that'd be the scenario for me to go to sleep and never wake up. eesh.
amazing 66.
it's hard for people to marry into my family. we're very asian where outward expressions of gratitude, respect and praise are not outwardly given. you start at negative and work your way to zero. if there's a flaw they'll find it. if there's no flaw, they'll find something else to say. you have to read between the lines because love and appreciation comes back 2 fold in forms of practicality. the kind that doesn't give you a hug and kiss and yells at you for doing things right, but in the end buys you a house and a car and whatever else you need.
"if your guest comes in you offer them tea. if they say they don't want anything, you still put tea on the table"
"yes doesn't mean yes. no doesn't mean no."
"asian parents don't like it when you give expensive gifts. however if you tell them you got it for free. they'll gladly take it."
"a western thanksgiving means a turkey and steamed fish/veges and rice"
flat is the new green - we're just at that time in our lives where it's all +1 and -1. leaving you riding a volatile graph of emotions. as the time denominator increases...going thru the circle of life is what matures you. because +1 weddings and +1 babies do not prepare u for the constant -1 of people around you.
"i think you're smart. you're good at giving perspective" - non consequential thinking.
"lead with your brain" - you've probably been able to use your charisma to get by your whole life. and you'll probably do very well for yourself to stay in this range. but if you want to break that ceiling and become the next level executive, you've got to lead with your brain. go for what you want and be aggressive about it. it's better to flaunt what you are and have people know, than be embarrassed about flaunting it and having people guess what what you are.
"even that was ballsy for you." - JT
